Curt Schilling waves to fansThis morning a great pitcher and a great human being hung up his gear.

A six time All Star, three time World Series champion, World Series Most Valuable Player, and a member of the 3000 strikeout club, Curt Schilling announced his retirement on his blog this morning

What Curt brought to baseball was a sense of purpose both on and off the field.

During his exceptional twenty year career he played for the Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox. His record speaks for itself. 216 wins, 146 losses. 3,116 strikeouts.

Off the field Curt does amazing charity work especially with the ALS Association. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also know as Lou Gherig’s disease, is a fatal neuromuscular disease which has no cure and unfortunately gives its victims a life expectancy of  just 2 to 5 years. In 1993, the Schillings developed Curt’s Pitch for ALS to help in the fight for a cure.

Well Curt is still an endorser of XELR8 and Bazi and has this to say – “I was drwan to XELR8 because of their high quality standards. Their elite system of nutrition keeps me healthy, energized and maximizes my performance.”

Schilling is also an avid gamer and a self-proclaimed geek. Being a gamer in games such as Everquest, Everquest II and World of Warcraft he is taking his love of gaming to 38 Studios which he started in 2006. The company is working on a new MMORPG code named Copernicus with Todd MacFarlane and author R.A. Salvatore.

So life will stay busy and exciting after 20 amazing years in baseball as not only a great ambassador for the game but a great role model for life.

Curt, we wish you nothing but the best and look forward to keeping up with you in the future.
